Spain. A building that has the implementation of renewable energies and that will be able to produce 3,600 megawatt-hours per year was developed by the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), the Technological Institute of Energy (ITE) and the Fran Silvestre Arquitectos Studio.
Known as the Wind Tower, this structure measures 170 meters and will be located in urban environments. The value of the building is about seven million euros.
The building has a geothermal energy system from the realization of a deep foundation that takes advantage of the difference in temperatures between exterior and foundations. For solar energy, the structure has photovoltaic panels located in vertical areas.
The Wind Tower uses more than 400 wind turbines that transform wind energy into electrical energy. These vertical axis systems are located on rooftops.
