Mexico. As an atypical increase, some entrepreneurs in the sector described the sale of air conditioning and ventilation equipment in recent months. The reason, according to some of them, was due to the recent heat wave that the entire territory suffered, especially in the central area where the temperature rose up to 40° Celsius.
With an annual growth rate of between 10% and 12%, the air conditioning market in Mexico has become one of the most important in Latin America dominated, mostly, by multinationals such as Carrier, Trane, LG, Mitsubishi Electric, Johnson Controls, Samsung Electronics and American Air Filter.
However, the acceleration has also favored national companies that serve, to a lesser extent, the domestic market, which have registered an increase in sales of up to 90% in the first four months of 2011.
For Carlos Hernández, director of Total Control (CT) Air Conditioning, "in the last period sales rose by 100% and while before we sold 100 systems a month, now we are around 200".
In the same way, Ricardo Celis, general director of the firm Refrigeration and Air & Comfort, said in this regard that "the hot season significantly favored the company thanks to the fact that customer demand increased by 25%, a figure that was represented in higher orders for the maintenance of the equipment."
Thus, both officials agreed that sales were driven by facilities for homes, corporate offices, commercial premises and industrial complexes. However, these could slow down now that temperatures began to subside. The truth is that although the departures of these teams were abnormal within the historical ones handled by the market, they trust that the rise will be maintained for at least a couple of more months.
