An air conditioning system that works with geothermal energy will be installed in the City Council and in the school of Llobera, a municipality in the region of Solsonès in the Autonomous Community of Catalonia.The mayor of the town, Josep Calell, explained that the decision to install this system is based on the savings it allows, since it reduces energy consumption by 75% when compared to the current system that works with diesel, in addition CO2 emissions to the environment are reduced by 85%.
This solution, which uses the heat of the earth to generate energy, has already been installed in some private homes of the municipality.
