Air conditioning for cancer patients: a success story

Climatización para pacientes oncológicos: caso de éxito

Mexico. The optimization of air conditioning systems in a hospital has become a crucial factor for the well-being of patients and medical staff.

The project in question was carried out at the Doctor Miguel Dorantes Mesa State Cancer Center, in Xalapa, Veracruz. There, the Ecochillers company was chosen to supply and install one of its high-efficiency chillers, which has a capacity of 60 tons.

The chiller is equipped with Copeland scroll compressors, renowned for their reliability and energy efficiency. The equipment operates with two independent cooling circuits, which provides greater flexibility and safety in the event of a failure in one of the circuits, allowing the other to continue operating without interruption.

This is particularly important in a hospital environment where continuity in temperature control is vital to the comfort and safety of patients, especially those in delicate treatments such as cancer.

Another standout feature of the chiller is its helmet and tube type heat exchanger, designed to maximize heat transfer and ensure optimal performance. The use of R410a refrigerant, an environmentally friendly gas, contributes not only to the energy efficiency of the equipment, but also to the hospital's commitment to the environment.

The equipment is configured to operate at a voltage of 460-3-60, making it compatible with the hospital's electrical requirements. This advanced system ensures efficient energy consumption, significantly reducing operating costs, resulting in long-term savings for the institution.

Thanks to this system, the hospital can maintain a controlled indoor environment, which is essential not only for comfort, but also for the preservation of sensitive medical equipment.

"This project reinforces Ecochillers' leadership in the market for customized and efficient HVAC systems, ensuring that each customer receives solutions that not only meet their immediate needs, but also offer long-term benefits in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. With this facility, the Xalapa Cancer Hospital benefits from a modern, efficient and reliable air conditioning solution, which contributes to the continuous improvement of its operations and services," said the Ecochillers company.
