The Guidehouse Insights Leadership Report is an assessment of the top 11 Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), assessing innovation leadership and the financing options available to customers through traditional performance contracts and other partnership mechanisms.
In the most recent assessment, Johnson Controls moved from the "Contender" category to the "Leader" category, thanks to its ability to adapt and diversify its net zero solutions offering.

Methodology of the report
Guidehouse Insights uses a unique methodology to rate ESCOs to provide an objective assessment of their relative strengths and weaknesses in the marketplace.
Companies are rated based on 10 criteria: vision, go-to-market strategy, partnerships, technology, geographic reach, sales, marketing and distribution, breadth of offerings, project portfolio, financing, and staying power.
David Gonzalez, Research Analyst at Guidehouse Insights, observed, "The gap between ESCO market leaders and other companies is widening, with some ESCOs creating innovations that go beyond efficiency solutions, while others lag behind in developing comprehensive, integrated technology. as well as financing capacities."
