Reliable Controls improves its RC-RemoteAccess software

Reliable Controls

International. After the launch of its RC-RemoteAccess solution in 2016, the company Reliable Controls has just presented version 3.6.1 of the software, which now has a BACnet Secure Connect (B/SC) hub capable of providing B/VPN support.

B/SC extends the BACnet protocol with an interoperable encryption standard for building automation software and devices, providing a means to securely transmit data across various B/SC-compliant systems.

"The addition of B/SC to RC-RemoteAccess takes an excellent product to a new level. The ability to combine B/VPN and B/SC clients into a single BACnet secure network allows for easy system expansion and easy integration with new products. In addition, RC-RemoteAccess uses a granular approach to accessing a secure BACnet network by providing a means to grant or revoke access individually to a B/SC client, streamlining the management of these connections," said Steve Chester, owner of the product.

Additional features in RC-RemoteAccess 3.6.1 include an updated user interface and integration with the Windows certificate store, making it easier for users to protect their network without exposing sensitive information.

Product Background
Upon market introduction, RC-RemoteAccess was touted as a first-of-its-kind and effective BACnet virtual private network (B/VPN) software solution for strengthening BACnet building automation networks and protecting them from malicious actors.

Additionally, Reliable Controls has highlighted the ease of installation and use: "The team behind RC-RemoteAccess focused on creating a simple solution to manage the increased complexity of certificate management and remote access that comes with B/SC," the company said in a statement.
