Latin America. Reliable Controls unveiled the new release for buildings, it is the new optional particulate matter sensor (PM2.5) for its intelligent room detection solutions SMART-Sensor and SMART-Sensor™ EPD.
The PM sensor option complements the company's existing carbon dioxide and volatile organic compound sensors to provide a complete indoor air quality solution for the built environment.
The PM sensor for these devices is the Sensirion SPS30, which accurately measures dust and other particles to determine air quality in a space based on laser scattering. PM2.5 refers to particles in the air that are 2.5 microns or more wide, about 30 times smaller than the width of a human hair. PM2.5 particles are among the most dangerous air pollutants; Their small size means they can travel deep into the respiratory tract and cause various health problems.
"In different parts of the world, wildfires happen too often. Measuring the particulate level of smoke in a building and then automatically reducing the ventilation volume of the outside air is one way PM detection technology can be incorporated into existing systems and reduce the health risks associated with wildfires," says Cameron Lutz, senior marketing manager at Reliable Controls. "There are many ways to design PM sensing technology into building control strategies to help balance occupant health and comfort with energy consumption."
Sensors are crucial to any building automation system, collecting data inputs that are used to control ventilation, air filtration, and other equipment. Building owners can use Reliable Controls technologies to monitor the indoor air quality of their facility. Whether they need to measure particles, volatile organic compounds, carbon dioxide, relative humidity or temperature.
