Costa Rica. Solmatec, authorized distributor of the Reliable Controls brand, has just installed an advanced building automation system, as part of the renovation project being carried out at the Juan Santamaría International Airport, in San José, Costa Rica.
According to both companies, this new building automation system would allow an estimated annual saving of US $ 32,000.
Airport automation
The company used an RC-RemoteAccess system to address the complex challenge of integrating three BACnet/IP subnets, in different segments of the local network, without affecting airport operations.
In addition, the MACH-ProCom and MACH-ProSys controllers, which are part of each subnet, communicate via BACnet/IP protocols with third-party computers, providing a router to a BACnet virtual private network (B/VPN). Thanks to this B/VPN, the need for a BACnet Broadcast Management Device was eliminated and the network architecture could be simplified.
Technological renewal
Solmatec replaced with Reliable Controls products a number of devices that were part of local networks, because they were in a defective or obsolete state.
In this way, the airport terminal now has EnOcean wireless sensors to monitor the temperature in the migration area, while a Reliable Controls system controls two water chillers. The MACH-ProZone equipment, on the other hand, monitors the smaller units for air treatment, as well as the fans.
Additionally, facility personnel use RC-WebView technology to access the B/VPN and view information pertaining to Reliable Controls devices and other mechanical equipment. On the other hand, RC-Reporter software provides clear and reliable reports on the operational performance of the facility, while RC-Archive provides a complete and reliable record of building data.
