Peru. Recently it was known that Luis Miguel Alvarado Mujica took office as president of ASHRAE Peru Chapter. The announcement was made on the social network LinkedIn by Alvarado himself, who took the opportunity to reflect on some aspects of his professional career, while remembering several figures who have meant important influences for him.
"Life sometimes puts very difficult tests on you, but you have to have the right motivation and people in your life. The most important thing, and also the most difficult, is to learn to enjoy the present. My secret is to do it day by day and recently I started celebrating every little achievement," wrote Alvarado, who is an Electrical Mechanical Engineer graduated from the National University of Engineering.
His inspirational figures
In his publication, the executive thanked several people, including his father, Jorge, who died shortly before the creation of the Peru Chapter of ASHRAE: "He was very aware of the process for the formation of the chapter and gave me advice to organize things well. He was not with us when the official announcement of the creation of the Peru Chapter took place, for a brief 10 days. However, I know that wherever he is, he celebrated it like no one else," he said.
Similarly, Alvarado Mujica referred to the influence and closeness of Xenya and Florentino Rosón, describing the support that both gave him in different circumstances of his life.
"I hope to live up to my new position and perform it in the best possible way to enhance the contribution of these 3 people so important to me. I really miss them, but working at ASHRAE makes me always keep them in mind and feel them very close," he concluded.
Challenges and objectives of the Peru Chapter
The initiative to create a new chapter of ASHRAE in the Andean country was approved by Region XII on November 10, 2020, with its first president being Engineer Alfredo Escárate Cobeñas. Since then, the organization has managed the following work objectives vis-à-vis the Peruvian HVAC sector:
- Publicize the work of ASHRAE.
- Encourage the training of student branches in universities to promote the technological development of future professionals.
- Support state entities in improving indoor air quality standards, thermal comfort, ventilation, energy efficiency, sustainability and other specialties within the scope of ASHRAE.
- Promote the international certification that ASHRAE offers to professionals, technicians and students.
