Panama. The company Climatizadora, together with the Carrier brand, presented a training of the HAP software in its version 6.0. This program is designed for consulting and installation engineers, design and HVAC contractors, as well as other professionals involved in the design and analysis of HVAC systems.
The training, which took place on Tuesday, April 18 and Wednesday, April 19, was held in the La Caleta Room of the Sheraton Gran Panama Hotel, and was given by Robert Feduik, a specialized engineer from Carrier.
The HAP Software (Hourly Analysis Program), according to Climatizadora, has two powerful tools in a single package, which are load calculations with three-dimensional modeling tools and energy modeling, where different equipment alternatives can be evaluated to estimate the best options.
"By combining both tools, significant time savings are achieved. The input data and results of system design calculations can be used directly in energy modeling studies."
Even through meetings with industry professionals, the key features and approach for HAP 6.0 emerged. "Powerful new functions were added to graphically define the building model."
Usability of HAP 6.0
Air conditioning ensures that, currently, an engineer can draw over the floor plans of the building to define the boundaries of the rooms, and the software automatically calculates the dimensions and areas.
In that sense, he points out that HAP 6.0 "offers many technical updates to reduce what used to take a few days of work to a couple of hours of engineering time for the creation of the construction model."
This program integrates with the U.S. Department of Energy's EnergyPlus™ calculation engine to provide state-of-the-art system simulation capabilities. In addition, it uses the ASHRAE Heat Balance load calculation method to represent building physics more accurately.
