United States. A-Gas has begun construction of another set of separation towers at its Rhome, Texas, plant that will allow it to increase production by 100% over the next eighteen months to supply the U.S. with recovered refrigerant gases.
Late last year, A-Gas completed construction of its last refrigerant separation towers at its plant located outside Dallas/Fort Worth. Separation towers were recently put into operation, multiplying separation capacity at the Texas plant, increasing capacity by 100% since the first set of separation towers came online in 2021 and by 200% since A-Gas began investing in this technology.
Year after year, A-Gas has almost doubled its production of recovered refrigerant. Together with the AHRI-certified laboratory at the Rhome plant, additional millions of pounds of recovered refrigerant, including the most complicated blends, can be safely returned to market to AHRI-700 specifications.
"Between the phase-down of virgin HFCs in the U.S., local governments mandating the use of certified recovered refrigerants, and our customers' desire to reduce their own environmental impact, the demand for high-quality recovered gas continues to grow," said Mike Armstrong, President, A-Gas Americas. "We are proud to meet the needs of customers, industry stakeholders, environmental stewards and government through our innovative technology. Together, we can continue to use existing resources to deliver more circular economy solutions."
