International. The Seventh Annual World Conference on Energy Efficiency of the International Energy Agency takes place from 7 to 9 June. Event whose central theme is the implementation of energy efficiency as a strategy for progress in the decade to come.
This conference, organized in this version by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, will take place in the city of Sønderborg and will focus on the specific actions that can be carried out over the next 5 to 10 years, to achieve the gains that are needed on the global path to 'net zero'.
Likewise, this meeting, which aims to explore how international ambition in terms of energy efficiency can translate into faster and stronger progress in the real world, is also relevant because it brings together ministers, executive directors and decision-makers from government, industry and civil society. That is, it has a clear objective and a relevant audience.
An exemplary headquarters
Sønderborg stands out, apart from being the setting for this conference on energy efficiency, because since 2007 it has managed to reduce its emissions, in collaboration with local companies. Moreover, in 2020 the city managed to bring its percentage of CO2 reduction by 51.7%, that is, it stopped generating 362,208 tons of this gas. These figures put this important territory on track to achieve carbon neutrality.
Event Agenda
The programming of this seventh annual conference is characterized by the issues raised, in which stand out: Energy Service Companies (ESE) for net zero, super-efficient appliances pave the way to carbon neutrality, efficient cooling for global development, the unlocking of financing for energy efficiency and the Energy Efficiency Solutions Summit, among others.
