Mexico. The new manual "Safe Handling of Hydrocarbons in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Sector", prepared by the Montreal Protocol Unit of SEMARNAT and the Division of the Montreal Protocol of UNIDO, with the financial contribution of the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is now available for free download.
The manual, worked within the SPODS project, consists of 9 Chapters and contains the basic knowledge that refrigeration and air conditioning technicians must apply for the safe handling and application of hydrocarbon refrigerants. It is a reference guide for technicians and personnel in charge of the installation, repair and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
Engineer Gildardo Yáñez, who has written for ACR Latin America, participated in the drafting in co-authorship with Engineer Miguel Angel Gónzalez, of the Sssirsa Company.
In the development of the different chapters, the characteristics of hydrocarbon refrigerants and the scope of application of each of them in refrigeration and air conditioning systems are exposed. All this, taking into account the mandatory safety measures that must be followed when handling these refrigerants.
