Brazil. The new law that establishes as mandatory the execution of a Maintenance, Operation and Control Plan (PMOC) in air conditioning systems in public and collective buildings was promulgated on 01/04/2018.
Trane released a statement saying the new measures will benefit both users and building managers.
Law 13.589 / 2018 aims to ensure good indoor air quality in establishments taking into account temperature, humidity, speed, renewal rate and purity standards, with the aim of eliminating or minimizing potential risks to the health of the occupants.
Although the new legislation, at first, seems like an extra cost for businesses, Trane believes everyone will win with the PMOC. "The correct functioning of HVAC systems reduces the energy consumption of buildings, the user wins by having better air quality and the manufacturer wins when the equipment works effectively," emphasizes Alexandre Cruz, Director of Services of Trane in Brazil.
Alexandre notes that Trane already applies the PMOC in contracts with its clients and is prepared to meet the demand that will arise for startups where the law is already valid, as well as for existing projects that will have the 180-day deadline for retrofitting after the law's regulation.
The new law is the result of the work of institutions such as ABRAVA (Brazilian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Heating), which has as a member of the board of directors of the National Department of Central Air Conditioning Manufacturers, Leader of Trane in Brazil, Luiz Moura and the Vice President of Marketing, Arnaldo Parra, Trane's Parts and Supplies Leader in Brazil; ASBRAV (Brazilian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Heating and Ventilation) - under the presidency of Eduardo Hugo Müller, Sales Manager of Trane in Brazil and Sindratar-SP (Union of Refrigeration, Heating and Air Treatment Industry in the State of São Paulo Paulo), among others.
"This new law confirms the maturation of the Brazilian HVAC market when it comes to the preventive maintenance of HVAC systems. Trane invests heavily in the training of specialized professionals to ensure compliance with all standards and norms. We are committed to supporting our customers to make Trane's systems energy efficient, providing a comfortable and safe environment for their occupants," concludes Luiz Moura, Managing Director of Trane in Brazil.
