International. The Chemours Company won at the 2017 RAC Cooling Industry Awards for its Opteon XL40 refrigerant. The company received the Cold Chain Project award for its support of refrigeration equipment rental company Dawsonrentals' transition from its refrigeration system to Opteon XL40 (R-454A).
This award is given to a project that has demonstrated results in advancing cold chain progress and has helped the environment in the process.
Dawsonrentals introduced the concept of mobile cold rooms in Europe and now offers more than 2,500 mobile cold rooms, industrial freezers, fast chillers and tempering units for rent, making Dawsongroup a major market player in the rental of cold storage solutions. Its customer, Park Cake Bakery, a supplier of private label cakes and desserts in the UK, has opened a new temperature-controlled storage facility in September 2017. The new building is the first of its kind to be cooled with Opteon XL40.
Park Cake Bakery Supply Chain Manager George Walsh commented: "Our new building is much cheaper and more convenient in every way. Using Opteon XL40 with a GWP of 239 compared to legacy HFC refrigerant R-404A with a GWP of 3922 also makes a significant contribution to reducing our environmental impact."
