United States. The Miami Chapter of ASHRAE will prepare for next June 20 a meeting where a presentation will be made focused on ASHRAE Standard 15, at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant.
Standard 15 (Safety Standard for Refrigeration Systems) is one of the oldest ASHRAE standards dating back to 1919. The purpose of Standard 15 is to specify the safe design, construction, installation and operation of refrigeration systems.
All engineers working with mechanical construction systems should have a basic understanding of this Standard and for those engineers working closely with refrigeration or cooling systems should have a deeper understanding of this standard and its requirements. This presentation will provide a revision of Standard 15 and highlight recent changes to the standard. Their common uses will be presented and discussed.
Douglas Reindl will host the talk. Douglas is a professor of engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and director of its Industrial Refrigeration Consortium. He has worked in the field of industrial refrigeration for over twenty years. Doug is actively involved in several professional organizations such as ASHRAE, IIAR and IIR. He is a voting member of the ASHRAE 15 committee and is a former chairman of the committee. He is an ASHRAE member and distinguished lecturer.
