United States. The HVAC/R Industry Alliance sent a letter to Vice President Mike Pence, outlining the sector's priorities and offering support to management in achieving the goals.
Representing more than two million jobs, Alliance members seek the incoming administration's support for economic, fiscal, environmental, and energy policies that increase America's global competitiveness, while increasing economic growth and fostering a balanced regulatory approach.
The 11 HVAC/R organizations that make up the Alliance are as follows: ACCA, the Indoor Environment and Energy Efficiency Association; Institute of Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (AHRI); Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA); American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE); Distributors of Heating, Air Conditioning and International Refrigeration (HARDI); Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI); National Air Filtration Association (NAFA); North American Technical Excellence (NATE); Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors - National Association (PHCC); Society of Refrigeration Service Engineers (RSES); and the National Association of Metal Sheet and Air Conditioning Manufacturers (SMACNA).
In the letter, the Alliance congratulated the new administration on its victory and detailed the importance of the HVAC/R industry's role in the country's success.
The letter reads, "The U.S. economy depends on HVAC/R systems that provide human comfort and also on refrigeration systems that make modern medicine possible, keep food fresh, and ensure our information technology systems are operational. Our alliance remains united in offering support and assistance in their efforts to enact policies that advance our shared goals of economic growth and opportunity. We believe our nation is in a position to stand up to the common policy recommendations we have outlined and look forward to working with you to transform goals into achievement."
The main priorities outlined in the letter were: the use of industry consensus standards, tax reform and incentives, energy bill and epca reform, refrigerants and the Kigali amendment, energy-efficient facilities and the workforce.
"ACCA and our industry partners are eager to work with the Trump administration on growing the economy, creating jobs and creating a more business-friendly environment," said Paul T. Stalknecht, president of the HVAC/R Alliance and president and CEO of ACCA. We believe that with a Republican in the White House and Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, we will have a better chance of our priorities being worked out and our industry being a more productive part of the country meeting its economic and energy goals."
