International. The report "Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases 2015", published by the European Environment Agency (EEA), revealed that the import, production, export and supply of HFCs fell in 2015, for the first time under the European Union's new F-Gas Regulation.
Imports decreased by around 40% compared to the exceptionally high quantities reported for 2014 (by weight and co2-eq.). Compared to 2013, bulk imports in 2015 increased by 8%.
Exports of fluorinated gases from the EU decreased by 2% (by weight) or 1% (in CO2 equivalent) in 2015 compared to 2014.
The new regulation already seems to be influencing the market. The EEA report notes that the production of fluorinated gases in the EU decreased by 5% in 2015. The supply of fluorinated gases in the EU also decreased by 24% compared to 2014.
Supply has decreased by about 24% (by weight and as CO2-eq.) Since 2014. Compared to 2013, bulk supply (7) increased by 9% by weight, but decreased by 3% as CO2-eq. in 2015.
The effects of the phasing out of HFCs are expected to be more significant over the next two years. A reduction in HFC quotas of 37% in 2018 is expected to lead to increases in the cost of HFCs.
