International. ASHRAE opened to the public changes to commissioning requirements in Standard 189.1 that would increase its ability to support green buildings with high-performance achievements.
The standard for the design of high-performance green buildings contains minimum requirements for the siting, design and construction of high-performance green buildings in support of the reduction of energy use, resource consumption and other environmental impacts, and the maintenance of acceptable indoor environments.
The proposed addendum aq updates the requirements of the standard for commissioning building systems. Committee Chairman Andrew Persily said the requirements are being changed for several reasons. "We want to update the standard to reflect the experience gained in applying existing requirements, as well as to keep up with trends and terminology in the evolution of the commissioning industry," he said.
Eleven additions to Standard 189.1 are currently available for public review. For more information or to submit a comment, visit www.ashrae.org/publicreviews
