Panama. The National Secretariat of Energy of the Government of Panama announced Annex 1 of the Sustainable Construction Guide, a document for the design of new energy-efficient buildings.
The objective is to provide a tool for the implementation of sustainable construction strategies to be applied in municipalities throughout the country. The resolution will allow savings of up to 20% in energy in new buildings.
The project began in 2013 as an initiative that examined opportunities to promote sustainable construction in Panama. At the beginning of 2013, the Panamanian Government, through the National Secretariat of Energy (SNE) requested assistance from the International Finance Corporation to develop this guide in order to mitigate the environmental impact in that country.
This resolution will be applied in restaurants, offices, hotels, hospitals, homes, shopping centers and educational centers.
