United States. LG Electronics USA announced that its VRF Multi-V IV systems have been certified to pass California's stringent anti-seismic construction requirements. With this, the company said that these air conditioning systems are certified in all 50 states of the country.
With a greater understanding of the dangers of seismic activity in the United States, compliance certification is more important than ever for certain construction projects, LG said.
States located near fault lines including California, Utah and Kansas are taking the lead on codes and standards and require new and retrofit buildings to be constructed to continue operation in a seismic emergency for safety reasons.
By obtaining OSHPD Special Seismic Certification, LG's Multi-V IV products can now be used in new or renovated construction for hospital projects in California, one of the states with the greatest threat of seismic activity in the contiguous U.S. states.
IBC certification means that LG's Multi-V IV products can be used in new or renovated construction of Category IV occupancy building types that have a factor of importance 1.5 or higher, including renovated hospitals; fire, rescue and police stations; emergency shelters; and power generating stations.
Typically, during seismic emergencies, buildings in this category must continue to operate and serve the public, and need HVAC systems that can be used during emergencies.
