Colombia. The first World Forum on Low Carbon Cities will be held in Medellín on October 10, 11 and 12.
The event seeks to discuss a multisectoral and multi-stakeholder roadmap to build Low Carbon Cities, through knowledge management, academic tests, scalable projects and a network of actors willing to work on the issue.
For this there are 30 national and international leaders confirmed to date for the Forum. Among the speakers who will visit Medellín for this event are Projjal K. Dutta, Director of Sustainable Initiatives of New York; Jennifer Lenhart, Sustainable Cities Programme Manager, WWF Sweden; Dr. Alfonso Vegara, President of the Metropoli Foundation; Federico Gutiérrez, Mayor of Medellín; Domenico Di Siena, Co-founder Urbano Humano and CivicWise, France; Manuel Rodríguez Becerra, former Minister of Environment and Roberto Gossi, Director of the Uruguayan Network of Sustainable Cities.
When in 2015 leaders from around the world signed the Paris agreement declaring the importance of cities and civil society as key actors to mitigate the effects of evident climate change. From the agreement and the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations for Sustainable Development, this initiative was born.
