Honduras. The intervening commission of the Honduran Institute of Social Security (IHSS) recovered, in San Pedro Sula, 24 air conditioning units valued at ten million lempiras (about US$445,000).
As reported by the newspaper La Prensa, the devices were purchased in 2009 during the direction of the IHSS by Mario Zelaya.
"The air plants were about five years in a rented warehouse, now that they have recovered they are being taken to the institution, where they will be used to air condition all the areas in which we have problems due to lack of conditioning and we hope to have them ready within a few weeks," said William Castro, regional manager of the Insurance.
Despite the finding and the improvements for the institution that this represents, the beneficiaries have their doubts. "The commission promised since last year to put air conditioning in the hospitalization areas and so far they have only been empty promises, we continue to endure heat and summer is coming," said Carlos Sánchez, a Social Security patient.
