Colombia. The ABB company recently inaugurated the new metalworking factory attached to its transformer plant in Dosquebradas, municipality of the department of Risaralda, which they qualify as one of the most modern in the country in its kind.
"The company, which celebrates 54 years of presence in Colombia, decided to carry out this project in the country to serve the market of power transformers and distribution, taking into account aspects such as skilled labor, productivity, financial performance and location," said the president and Country Managing Director for ABB in Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela, Ramón Monrás Muñoz.
This factory aims to improve the conditions of HSE (Health, Industrial Safety and Environment) according to the standards of the ABB Group and the country, increase productivity in the manufacture of tanks for transformers, and make the entire process self-sufficient with the implementation of a new automatic core cutting line for power transformers.
On the environmental issue, the company will install a 20 KVA photovoltaic solar system to meet part of the energy consumption of this new headquarters. The photovoltaic system will supply the energy needed for the lighting, sockets and air conditioners of the building. This building is under NSR-10 standards (Earthquake Resistant Standard).
The metalworking plant also has modern welding fume extraction systems, paint booths with activated carbon filters to trap volatile Organic Compounds, as well as an industrial wastewater treatment plant (PTARI); the use of energy efficiency systems that optimize processes and protect the environment was also contemplated.
The inauguration of the plant took place on November 18 and was attended by more than 150 guests as well as the participation of senior ABB managers.
