International. Companies with 250 or more employees are required to carry out an energy audit to diagnose and put into concrete numbers the energy efficiency potential of companies. An exemption is only possible in the context of an energy management system based on ISO 50001.
An important prerequisite for this is the continuous recording of energy flows. The company Rittal developed an Intelligent Control System in which users can now easily adjust (or adapt) to disconnector switches in low-voltage distribution systems with smart metering technology.
The process of implementing the energy management system has provided different opportunities for improvement, such as the automatic configuration of the consumption measurements of the main equipment; the installation of continuous meters of the energy consumption of the equipment, especially those with greater energy consumption, for the knowledge of the real consumption; performance monitoring as well as verifying performance improvement; incorporation of electricity consumption in the criticality analysis as a criterion to be assessed; drafting of the Operation Manual for the optimization of energy, as well as the installation of an energy cogeneration system with the use of the biogas generated.
In order to implement measures to improve energy efficiency according to ISO 50001, energy consumption must be measured transparently and continuously. Rittal now offers an intelligent control system for NH Disconnector Switches for use in low voltage distributions, which can be perfectly integrated into the RiLine60 power distribution system.
The Intelligent Control System consists of the recording of measurement data, evaluation electronics and communication modules. All components are housed in a compact housing, along with the power supply. In this way, the system can also be simply adapted to RiLine60 NH Disconnector Switches of sizes 00 to 3. The wiring effort is minimal, since it is no longer necessary to wire the individual components, such as current converters, voltage measuring sockets, the power supply and the measuring transducers.
