International. Two new standards for building and residential automation were announced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and LonMark International.
The new standards are aimed at all professionals related to the sector, such as developers, suppliers, integrators, among others, so that they obtain a new alternative that allows them to develop and offer a higher level of device-to-device interoperability through any open control platform.
"Our intention is to offer the market a fully proven approach, well adopted as a solution to the interoperability problem presented by the Internet of Things (IoT). These profiles can be dissociated from the core of the ANSI CEA-709.1 control network protocol and implemented in any transport, providing a unique opportunity for other standards development bodies to boost their interoperability efforts," said Ron Bernstein, Chief Ambassador for LonMark International.
- The CEA-709.5 specification: guidelines that define application-level requirements for interoperable devices and how they share key information, status, and data over an open control network.
- The CEA-709.5 specification: application elements created on top of the .5 Application Guidelines, offering a catalog of more than 100 device profiles, with more than 380 deployment options. These profiles define design requirements (mandatory and optional) for standard variables, configuration properties, enumeration types, and files required for standard interfaces.
