Argentina. In the city of Rosario, a project was approved to sanction businesses that operate with air conditioning systems and at the same time have their doors open, this in order to encourage the reduction of energy consumption.
The value of the fines for non-compliance with these rules would be between 7,500 and 15 thousand pesos, so they recommend that establishments install automatic door closing systems.
As reported by the newspaper impulsonegocios.com in summer times the shops of that city keep their doors open with air conditioning equipment operating at temperatures between 15 and 20 degrees, so the use of energy rises. A business that works for a month with the air conditioning in operation and the door open emits a ton of carbon dioxide into the air, which is the equivalent of that thrown by a vehicle that travels eight thousand kilometers.
The measure will be focused mainly on the establishments located in the central area of the city, where the highest energy consumption occurs.
