International. After the Mexican company Mexichem sued the International Trade Commission of the United States for unfair practices and subsidies to imports of refrigerant gas 134a from China, the response of the government entity was that these imports do not harm the industry of its country.
However, Mexichem will appeal the decision based on the U.S. Department of Commerce's proposed final resolution: "This resolution runs counter to the U.S. Department of Commerce's final motion resolution dated October 15, 2014 related to unfair practices and subsidies against the importation of refrigerant gases into the United States," established the Mexican company in a statement.
The resolution indicates that the import of refrigerant gases into the United States, known as R-134, HFC-134-a or 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane, should be subject to countervailing duties of 280.67% for unfair practices and 11.14% on average for subsidy practices. The refrigerants business for Mexichem represents 3% of the company's total sales and 3% of its EBITDA until the first nine months of this year.
