Mexico. Trane received the "Clean Industry Certificate" for its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system factory in Monterrey. The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semanart) and the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa), awarded this certificate valid for two years, until July 2016.
"Clean Industry" is a voluntary environmental self-management program through which companies document, according to their operations, full compliance with all kinds of legal requirements.
Among the benefits obtained with the "Clean Industry" Certification are:
• The implementation of the environmental audit program, which increases the efficiency of the company's manufacturing processes by reducing the consumption and costs of water, energy and waste generation.
• Routine evaluation of emergency response plans, reducing the risks of negative environmental impacts.
"The internal Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team, led by Geronimo Rodriguez, Trane's EHS Leader for Latin America, and Jesus Hernandez, Trane's EHS Specialist, have generated a strong commitment from managers, supervisors and all plant employees in order to maintain high performance and zero environmental excesses," said Daniel Cordova, director of operations of the Monterrey plant.
