Mexico. Trane received for the third consecutive year from the Governor of the State of Nuevo León, Rodrigo Medina de la Cruz, the Nuevo León recognition for the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions (GEI 2014) for its plant in Monterrey dedicated to the manufacture of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
The Government of the State of Nuevo León, through the Secretariat of Sustainable Development and as part of the Alliance for the Future 2020 and in follow-up to the Action Plan against Climate Change Nuevo León 2010-2015, grants this recognition to companies that take actions to mitigate GHG emissions, in order to contribute to a better quality of life and be part of the care of the environment.
The recognition was received by Daniel Gerardo Córdova Chávez (center in the imgen), director of operations of the plant in Monterrey, who commented that "with the environmental results obtained during the last 3 years, the leadership of the team of the HVAC systems factory in Monterrey, has demonstrated its commitment to achieve the environmental goals defined by the company, achieving year after year to reduce more than 5% in its environmental index with the support of an Environmental Management System certified for 5 years by DNV Business Assurance, using the main indicators that keep the system running".
Among the achievements made during 2013 are the calibration of natural gas burners in compressor paint booths and the replacement in the construction of buildings of Intellipack A/C units by the new Trane Stealth chiller. Both initiatives made it possible to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 1,000 tons during the last year compared to 2012, equivalent to planting around 1,493 trees.
