International. DuPont has responded to the European Commission for the Joint Research Centre's (JRC) final report on the review of HFO-1234yf testing.
Thierry Vanlancker, president of DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts, said, "DuPont is pleased with the JRC's final conclusions as they strengthen our high level of confidence that HFO-1234yf can be safely used in automotive air conditioning."
The executive added that "The JRC met with a number of stakeholders and held three public meetings to obtain input on the extensive safety tests that have been conducted on HFO-1234yf for use as an automotive coolant. The JRC focused, in particular, on the study carried out by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority, Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA)."
The KBA had concluded that its analyses, based on the requirements of the German product safety law, did not provide sufficient evidence of a serious risk related to HFO-1234yf.
