Venezuela. The Caracas Metro optimized the air conditioning system on Line 1 by 90% during 2011. It is expected that in the course of January 2012 three new equipment will be installed in the Refrigeration Plant No. 1 (PR1), which supplies ice water to the Pérez Bonalde, Plaza Sucre and Gato Negro stations.
During the festivities, the technical staff installed new ice water generators in the Ciudad Universitaria, Chacao and Los Dos Caminos stations, making the temperature range between 23 and 24°.
Likewise, maintenance work was carried out on the air conditioners of the Capitolio, La Hoyada, Los Símbolos, La California and Los Cortijos stations; in the latter two, some equipment is currently being repowered, in order to carry out a comprehensive improvement of the system.
By the beginning of February, the installation of the refrigeration equipment in Palo Verde will be completed, achieving the repowering of the total number of line 1 air conditioners.
According to the established planning, by the end of the first quarter of 2012, the air conditioning system on all Metro lines will be operating at 100%, improving the quality of service for all users.
