United States. Moderate expectations for the future were expressed by 100 distributors of HVACR equipment in the United States, in the survey conducted by HARDI (Heating, Airconditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International) in conjunction with JP Morgan Equity Research.
Among the results of the study is that 65% of distributors have seen the demand for equipment remain stable or decrease compared to the previous year.
Likewise, 95% of distributors said that their customers are choosing to repair instead of replacing and 55% believe that this trend has increased compared to 2010. As for product inventory, 79% report having higher levels than last year.
Alan Beaulieu of the Trend Research Institute and chief economist at HARDI, stated that "there is some rise in exchange rates and some stability in the dollar invested in commercial construction in general, but looking at national trends we realize that we will have to wait until the end of 2011, at best. or until 2012, most likely, before we have a recovery."
