In 2010 the chemical company Dow Chemical will sell solar panels in order to expand its business into alternative energies.The panels, which could be integrated into roofs with standard asphalt shingles, would generate $5 billion in revenue for the company in 2015 and double this amount by 2020.
The U.S. Department of Energy gave Dow Chemical $20 million in financing to help develop this new product, which is in line with the country's vision of renewable energy and its high wind energy production.
The company explained that the panels can be placed in about 10 hours reducing installation costs that represent more than 50% of the total price of the system.
