USA. Factory shipments for residential cooling and heating equipment showed a sharp drop from February 2008, while demand for commercial systems remained stable, according to a recent AHRI study.
The falls range from 10% in heat pumps to 22% in gas-prone air furnaces and enclosure heaters without ventilation ducts through a 39% drop in air furnaces. Electric and gas water heaters had the smallest drops, at 3%, while commercial gas water heaters showed a modest increase of 4%.
