Siemens reduces its CO2 emissions by 25%

International. Siemens, a leading global technology company, is advancing its commitment to achieve carbon neutrality for all its operations by 2030. Its objective, framed within its Siemens Energy Eficiency Program, is to achieve that all its facilities and buildings emit zero emissions. Since the launch of this initiative in 2015, Siemens has already reduced its CO2 emission by more than 25%.

Currently, Siemens' investments in energy efficiency initiatives have led to a 15% reduction in energy costs. The company has already launched 27 energy efficiency projects in its buildings around the world, of which eight have already been successfully completed. The technologies and measures implemented include the installation of combined heat and power systems, absorption chillers, air conditioning or the recovery of heat and cooling towers. In addition, 80% of the facilities it has in Germany already use 100% green energy.

To become a "zero emissions" company by 2030, Siemens has set new sustainability goals. In addition to its investment plan of 100 million euros in energy efficiency projects in 2020, the company plans to invest 45 million euros in the development of distributed power generation systems by that same year. The multinational also sets a new goal for 2020, to achieve that 70% of its global energy consumption comes from renewable sources. It also seeks to gradually increase the infrastructure of the current charging points for electric vehicles and reach 200 units in Germany.
