The medical complex Specialized Centers of San Vicente Foundation, the Ruta N building and the Avon Ecobranch Distribution Center (in the photo), will be the three facilities that will receive the attendees of TecnoEdificios 2012 in guided tours that will allow to know in detail the systems used for the optimization of its operation.
In the case of Specialized Centers of San Vicente Foundation, this facility is recognized as the first green hospital in Colombia and one of the few in Latin America with such a rating. Among the measures implemented during the construction and operation of the medical center are the alternative uses of energy, ventilation, noise control and conservation of water sources, as well as the use of automated systems that make the building a more versatile and adaptable space. For its part, the Avon Ecobranch Distribution Center has LEED Gold Category Certification and among the measures applied to the building are the installation of efficient cooling systems, an energy modeling plan that has allowed it to save around 25% in lighting and a water heating system through solar panels. Finally, the innovation and business center of the Mayor's Office of Medellín, the Ruta N Complex, has a strict lighting control and high specification glass that allows controlling the entry of infrared radiation into the building to reduce the need for air conditioning, among other technologies. Duván Chaverra, academic coordinator of the event, stressed that "it is a privilege to have the opportunity to know first-hand the advances that are being made in the region in terms of the implementation of sustainable constructions, especially since in that sense Colombia is a leading country." The visits will be held on November 7 and can be accessed by those people previously registered in the academic program of TecnoEdificios. TecnoEdificios 2012 will take place on November 8 and 9 at the Plaza Mayor Convention Center in Medellín, Colombia.
