Do you know the benefits of integrating security systems into your building? Do you know anything about the added value in security management functions? Do you have your security personnel updated in the face of new technologies?
To resolve these and other concerns, at TecnoEdificios 2010 we will have the presence of Héctor Torres Pérez, vice president and director of Asset Protection of Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, as well as one of the CPP (Certified Protection Professional) with the greatest recognition in the region; Torres will give the talk called "The administration of electronic and physical security in a building".
For Torres, the business environment in the 21st century is quite volatile. Currently, corporate security is considered a managerial function and is executed by businessmen and women who develop public relations or accounting tasks, focused on improving organizational efficiency. Torres assures that the stereotype that the person responsible for security is a military or a policeman without any managerial knowledge is already sent to collect, and that because of this is that the development of security management in Latin America is slowed down. In his presentation, Torres will talk about the "added value" that must be created in all the managerial functions of corporate security. He will also give various recommendations on the subject of building modernization, including how the security personnel solution can be integrated with new technologies, which he considers a multiplier of efforts, adding that "much more can be done now with much less", and will present the example of one of the subsidiaries of Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, its current employer, in which the mission, threats and risks for the implementation of security technology were considered. "Today, security is a necessity and a business matter. But you need to invest money, for which you have to be very judicious and present the investment projects as any other business unit would," explains Torres. "You have to be very clear about how this investment will be rewarded in the long term, to convince that it is worth using the money for security cameras, programs and platforms, instead of paying bonuses to employees or remodeling the company's facilities," Adds. As a faculty member at the Phoenix Graduate School of Business Administration, Torres teaches future business leaders with examples of his 30 years of experience in federal and private security along with pursuing his Ph.D. in business administration. creating the awareness that today the job of a security professional is not that of a bodyguard or a policeman, but that of a business management manager, which is based on the protection of the tangible and intangible assets of their companies.
