Rogelio Guzmán Hernández is recognized in the market for his great interest in the care of the environment and in the expansion of energy-efficient technologies; and that is just one of the reasons to be a worthy representative of Mexico for the Professional of the month of this edition.
Rogelio currently works for Lennox and his current residence is located in Cancun, Quintana Roo, since January 1997. He came to this city because of the need to get away from the hustle and bustle of Mexico City. While there, he had to get important experience before arriving at Lennox, which he now considers his home.
"Having studied a technical career in management, I had nothing to do with the field, but a year after my change to Cancun and after doing different basic jobs, I went to work at York International in the area of administrative assistant, "I went to work at York International, "I have studied, "I have studied a technical career in The Administrative Assistant area," commented the professional.
Later, during his stay in York he had to see how the staff moved with the arrival of new members, while continuing to fulfill his duties: "Six months later Adalberto Charnichart arrives to take over as sales manager, serving from Córdoba, Veracruz, and to Cancun. After three years, Martín Bolaños joined the team, for the sales of applied equipment, while I continued to do my administrative tasks, although I attended to the distributors when it came to direct expansion teams and that was how I understood the operation of the DX teams. "
Two years later, the company decides to make a change and send Martín Bolaños to Guadalajara, Rogelio expected to be fired and Adalberto would attend the warehouse, only with customers from Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo. However, his farewell was not given at the request of one of his partners, and becomes part of the sales area. "After nine years in the company and doing the same, I want a change, I ask for my resignation and I move to work four years with a distributor in Cancun, always in the sales area."
During this work he meets the engineer Rafael Rojo, Mexico Territory Manager of Lennox US, "on a visit by Rafael to Cancun, he asks me if I know anyone who wants to work directly for Lennox, but in Mexico. This is how I enter the Lennox team, reporting to the office in Miami (hence it is marketed for all of Latin America) based in Mexico," says the guest.
In this company, Rogelio has had the opportunity to exploit the knowledge acquired over the years and has managed to reach personal maturity. This has been an opportunity to get to know other countries to observe the behavior of the air conditioning business.
"By not having offices in Mexico, both my colleague Gustavo Alpizar and a server, we have a goal to meet, regardless of office hours, take a flight very early or very late, travel to other countries on weekends. We can be in the morning giving a theoretical training and in the afternoon, on a rooftop doing practices with the teams of what we learned in the theory, "said Rogelio.
Your professional challenges
The professional of the month works to continue encouraging the philosophy of high efficiency in technologies and the environment in Latin America. "I think that in Latin America there is a huge possibility of changing the way of thinking of the final consumer. In the countries where I have given trainings, there is none where I do not hear the following phrase: 'here they do not think about high efficiency, only in price', and always, at the end of my trainings, I indicate the corporate accounts that Lennox has in the USA and in Mexico and they are surprised to know that, being only two employees, we can count on those accounts ... and more, when I emphasize that it is not for price ... but for efficiency, "said Rogelio.
He also believes that the industry must begin to change the old customs and understand that it must invest in new technology to obtain savings, and protect the planet. "I am a nature lover and it hurts to see how it has deteriorated over time. Our industry invests a lot in technology to help against environmental deterioration, so hearing phrases like 'it's for price, they're not interested in saving', is synonymous with "I don't want to make an effort to get out of my comfort zone". Colleagues, if we do not start by changing our way of thinking, we will not be able to transmit it to the distributor and / or end customer and, as an industry, we will not be able to help the environment, thinking no longer of future generations, of our generation".
His other facet
Rogelio has lived with his girlfriend for seven years, and expresses an excellent relationship in which they share a taste for cycling that they practice with their friends. They also like to help dog associations, and on their own have rescued approximately 25 puppies from both cats and dogs, which they have sterilized and put up for adoption.
With his mountain bike he has had the opportunity to make great tours and travel through different places such as Fruita in Denver and Moab in Utha, United States. Now he also enjoys road cycling, with which he has participated in some competitions.
"I have participated in team and individual time trials, background rides such as the Cancun – Chichen Itza challenge with a distance of 212 Kms and the Gran Fondo New York, held in Cozumel with a distance of 180 Kms. This year we will participate in the Xterra off-road triathlon, in some local triathlons and we are preparing a background triathlon for 2016, as well as a bike trip from Montana to Canada," concluded our guest.
