Today we read some good news, the National Forestry Commission of Mexico, reported that they were finally able to extinguish the 100% fires that began since March in northern Mexico.
The fire, with almost 200,000 hectares of forests and thickets, also expanded and affected the communities of El bonito and Sabina in the state of Coahuila, border with the United States. To put out the fire the government had to spend more than 400 million pesos (about 33 million dollars), more than a thousand brigadistas participated along with specialized equipment and aircraft.
Other data from the Ministry of the Environment revealed that the heat has caused more than 8,000 fires so far this year affecting some 413,000 hectares of Mexican territory. The bad news is that the fire that is in the area of Santa Rosa in the Municipality of Muzquiz, is still active and work continues to put it out.
