The company Infinita Renovables has reached an agreement with the workers of the biodiesel plants of Ferrol and Castellón to launch a temporary rotating Employment Regulation File (ERE), given the lack of workload that the company attributes to the unfair competition of biodiesel from Argentina and Indonesia.
The company informed through a statement that the entry into force of the ERE will allow to maintain the jobs and guarantee the viability of the company as long as the Government does not adopt measures that allow to resume production.
Both the staff of the Ferrol plant, located in the outer port of Caneliñas and made up of about fifty workers, and the one located in Castellón, have accepted the company's proposal.
Infinita Renovables highlights that the situation in which the two biodiesel plants find themselves is the consequence of unfair competition from Argentine and Indonesian biodiesel added to the lack of measures that allow Spanish producers to compete on equal terms.
The company, a Spanish leader in production capacity, recalls that the Spanish sector "cannot resist a context of unfair competition such as the current one if measures are not taken by the Government".
Thus, the company urges the Ministry of Industry to "take measures to avoid the closure of most biodiesel plants in Spain and the destruction of jobs", with the implementation of measures such as those developed five years ago in countries such as France, which protect its market against unfair competition from other countries.
SINCE JUNE 2009
Infinita Renovables is made up of the Isolux Corsán group, a promoter group and Banco Santander, and is the company with the largest production capacity in Spain. In its two plants, in Ferrol and Castellón, it can produce 900,000 tons of biodiesel.
The Ferrol biodiesel plant began operating in the outer port in June 2009, after the investment of 80 million euros. In Caneliñas, a second biodiesel plant of the company Entabán Biocombustibles de Galicia is installed. (EUROPA PRESS)
