[R]Energy evolution, a sustainable energy perspective for Mexico stems from a global effort that Greenpeace and the European Council for Renewable Energies made to present three possible scenarios for 2050: a reference one, based on the forecasts of the International Energy Agency; the basic energy evolution which aims to reduce CO2 emissions from the energy sector by 50 per cent compared to 1990 levels; and the advanced version in which a reduction of more than 80 percent of CO2 is projected by 2050.
The climate around the world is changing drastically: hotter summers and winters, longer droughts, increasingly frequent atypical rains, heat waves that cause big fires, more hurricanes and greater intensity... Phenomena all linked to climate change.
