International. The NH Hoteles chain published a results study that highlights positive figures after the development of its Environmental Strategic Plan 2008 – 2012.
The hotel group reported savings of 22.7% in the energy sector, 27% in water use, 40% in CO2 reduction and 34.4% in waste generation, exceeding in four years the goals set with the plan, which has invested around 4 million euros in environmental projects.
NH Hoteles has made adjustments in its establishments that have allowed it to achieve these percentages of savings. Among its investments, it implemented an LED lighting technology, which reduced by 70% the energy used for this purpose. In addition, it now uses eco-elevators with which it saves energy of 1,200 kWh / year compared to traditional ones.
The chain is now ISO 50001 certified, an international standard specialized in Energy Management Systems.
