International. The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) released the 2024 version of the annual Global Top 25 list of its largest temperature-controlled storage and logistics members.
The list is determined by the total capacity of the temperature-controlled space operated by the members of the warehouse and belonging to the GCCA.
GCCA warehouse members currently own or operate 7.39 billion cubic feet (209 million cubic meters). A total capacity of more than 600 million cubic feet has been added to the Global Top 25 since the publication of the 2023 lists, due to M&A activity and the planned opening of new facilities. This is not to suggest that the industry as a whole has grown at this rate, the GCCA says.
"We anticipated that uncertainty in 2023 would dampen investments in the sector, but once again the cold chain has proven resilient in the face of adversity. GCCA members have continued to build and grow their networks around the world, both through acquisitions and entirely new developments." said Adam Thocher, GCCA's senior vice president of global programs and information.
The Global Top 25 list currently operates 6.67 billion cubic feet (189 million cubic meters). The North American Top 25 operates 4.7 billion cubic feet (133 million cubic meters). The European Top 10 operates 1.17 billion cubic feet (33 million cubic meters). The Latin American Top 10 operates 544 million cubic feet (15.4 million cubic meters).
