United States. Copeland, through the Vilter brand, announced that the first industrial transcritical CO2 compressor unit is already in production, which was announced at the last IIAR Congress that took place in Orlando, Florida, at the end of March.
Vilter's transcritical CO2 compressor offers one of the most robust compression solutions for sustainable industrial refrigeration needs. Built around Vilter's screw compressor model, CO2 systems enable designers, builders, and operators of cold storage, food and beverage, recreation, utilities and energy, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, petrochemicals, and industrial processing to achieve their sustainability goals with a simple cost-effective design and system.
The brand confirmed that this line of transcritical CO2 compressors is available in seven displacements to suit most large industrial refrigeration systems. The products are designed for high-side CO2 transcritical systems and have a power range of 100 to 900 horsepower per compressor.
The subcritical CO2 compressor line, designed for the low side of a transcritical or cascade CO2 system, is available in 11 displacements, with a power range of 100 to 900 horsepower per compressor.
"Copeland's CO2 business expertise provides the unparalleled expertise needed to meet the rigors of high-pressure industrial CO2 compression," said Michael Gersmeyer, Vilter senior product manager for Copeland. "The unique design of Vilter's single-screw compressor is ideal for handling the high pressures seen in transcritical CO2 operation."
