United States. From March 24 to 27, Orlando will host the 2024 IIAR Natural Refrigeration Conference & Heavy Equipment Expo, which will be held at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort and where ACR Latinoamerica will be present.
For this year the event, which will feature more than 100 exhibiting companies, will bring several significant changes including an updated calendar where there will be conferences in Spanish and with simultaneous translation, and an exclusive Fun Day organized by the Natural Refrigeration Foundation (NRF).
"Ultimately, our post-conference survey received a lot of positive recommendations for improvement: most people didn't want a longer conference, but many people wanted new things to be added," said Gary Schrift, president of IIAR. "The only way to accommodate the new programs that were being added was to remove some that we felt were not essential and reorder the calendar to make more efficient use of the days we have."
Education Program
The event will continue to feature educational seminars, talks and paper presentations. "Education will be strong, as always. We will focus on the latest ammonia and CO2 technologies. There's a lot about heat pumps, IIAR-sponsored research, and the importance of developing and documenting PHA programs," Flynn said.

There will also be sessions in Spanish, and IIAR continues to develop resources for Spanish-speaking members. "In our commitment to providing educational tools and materials to support our members, IIAR has now translated our three series of training videos into Spanish. This is an important accomplishment as we look to expand our reach to Spanish-speaking communities, not only within North America but also in South and Central America," Flynn said.
For the first time, the meeting will feature a training class for the RETA CRST certification. It will happen on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and testing will take place on Monday.
IIAR has turned the Closing Seminar into a structured event where participants will examine the current state of our industry.
Other activities
The activities will begin on Saturday, March 23, with the meeting of the IIAR Board of Directors. "Committee meetings are the heart and soul of the place where the work is done. By having almost all of the committee meetings on Saturday, we are able to do a lot of the focused work," said John Flynn, chairman of IIAR's education committee and director of business development for General Refrigeration.
On Saturday evening, the association will host IIAR's first VIP dinner/reception. On Sunday, March 24, the NRF Fun Day will be held, which will feature three tournaments (golf, pickleball and cornhole), all starting in the morning. The goal is to raise awareness and donations for the NRF and its mission.
