Project with ecological refrigeration solutions in new store in Cali

Weston

Colombia. The supermarket chain Alkosto recently opened a new store in the city of Cali, where it had the need to install new refrigeration equipment for its warehouse that has a sales area of 6915 m2.

Alkosto installed the next series of equipment from the Colombian manufacturer, Weston, with the purpose of obtaining significant energy savings and greater operational efficiency of the equipment.

Argos Murals (cover photo): On this occasion Alkosto decided to install an Argos cabinet with doors, leaving the standard of open equipment that it had always handled in its warehouses for the dairy section. The doors reduce the refrigeration load and save up to 30% of energy.

Phoenix showcases: a special and personalized design of this showcase was made since the client preferred it with a different height than the one that has commonly been manufactured for its other warehouses, which provides a greater visualization of the products.

Aquila Self-Service: Weston manufactured two identical pieces of furniture 5.12mt long, with different functions: the first was used for the display and sale of refrigerated beverages and the other for imported fruits. These semimurals have glass sides that allow the visibility of the products from different angles and can be located in the center of the warehouse.

Self-contained islands: To reduce the refrigeration load in the rack, islands were chosen for freezing products. These islands are self-contained allowing their installation to be immediate, additionally they have natural refrigerant R290 that makes them more efficient, generating significant energy savings to the warehouse. Its front and side windows increase the exhibition area allowing to increase impulse sales.

Self-service for fruits and vegetables: Alkosto chose the largest model of self-service for the exhibition of vegetables of the brand, since it has a size of 10.12 meters long, 1.15 meters deep and 2.20 high. Each shelf measures 50 cm which allows greater depth and load capacity. In the same way, a self-service of 7.62 meters long for fruits was installed.

Cold rooms: 14 cold rooms were installed built with sliding doors and wall 100 millimeters thick in case in the future it is necessary to change the application of the same.

Rack: It has defrosting by hot gas, which allows the same heat generated by the system to be used for the defrosting of the evaporators. Additionally, compressors were installed with R507 refrigerant and variable speed drive that is activated to regulate the refrigeration load in the system according to the demand of the equipment, and in this way also generates energy savings.
