The A seal for air conditioners for residential use in Brazil is already in force

Brazil. Since 2022 the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) created a new final cooling performance index (IDRS) for residential air conditioning systems, so from January 1, 2023 brands must certify to be able to manufacture and import.

The new Final Cooling Performance Index (IDRS) aims to make energy efficiency ratings more accurate and rigorous. In the new metric, only models with inverter technology are classified with the A seal.

This implies that as of January 1, 2023, all brands in the market that wish to market in Brazil must manufacture or import only products with the label of this new classification.

For example, LG Electronics recently received the A seal for advancement, which recognizes its energy savings and maximum energy efficiency. Specifically, the entire line of residential air conditioners of the brand was renewed to comply with this new regulation.
