Latin America. Schneider Electric's Digital Energy Training Center received KNX Certification for Latin America. This space, which has 12 years of operation, has managed to certify more than 1,500 people from different parts of the world in the lines for building automation, energy management, lighting control and protections.
A KNX certified training centre is the one that has adopted the KNX Association Certification Scheme. This scheme ensures that all those members follow a minimum set of requirements, including the demand for comfort and versatility in the management of heating, lighting and access control systems for an office complex, through an efficient use of energy.
"We are proud to be able to continue the innovation of these issues and thus contribute to aspects such as the decarbonization of building operations, thanks to the willingness of different companies that invest in education with the highest technology in Latin America", says Daniela Mora, director of Digital Energy for the Andean Cluster at Schneider Electric.
Reducing energy consumption is only possible through control, intelligent measures and monitoring of all equipment or products involved.
This training center is one of the few that exist in Latin America as a contribution from the private sector, and that has an offer of trainings, designed specifically for participants to specialize in a theoretical-practical way in solutions for building automation, energy management and quality, lighting control and protections.
Its importance lies in the fact that this type of certification must be renewed constantly, approximately every two years.
In times of pandemic, 250 people were certified, including technicians and professionals from countries such as Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica and Panama, "these results challenge us to continue working to promote innovation and specialization in the sector", Daniela concludes.
The Training Center currently has its calls open for the registration of companies in the sector that wish to specialize their collaborators and meet the requirements to be EcoXperts (Channels specialists in Building Automation – Energy Quality and Substation Automation).
In its most recent program called "Substation Automation" you will be able to know more about conventional protection and control schemes such as fully digital substations. These substation automation systems (SAS) feature the main IEDs, protection relays, measurement and monitoring solutions. Based on the latest IEC 61850 and cybersecurity standards, thus combining better interoperability, connectivity and security, with an efficient and easy-to-use operator interface.
The company expects to be able to certify more than 300 people in Latin America and other regions by the end of this year.
