Panama. On August 4 to 6, the 2022 version of the CRC was held in Panama ASHRAE Región XII which brings together the community of member engineers from Latin America, the Caribbean and South Florida, except Mexico.
The event, which was attended by more than 90 members, began with a great welcome reception with all attendees, who shared wonderful moments with members and colleagues, and which also had the special participation of Ashish Rakheja, Vice President of ASHRAE, as delegate of the president, Farooq Mehboob.
This meeting developed different spaces and business meetings divided into sessions, and additionally a dinner of recognitions was held. On the last day of the meeting, work spaces were held to review issues about membership committees, activities for students, young engineers, among others.
"We are one of the most important regions in terms of geographical coverage for ASHRAE at the international level and the CRC is an activity where we review progress, activities, action plans, following the guidelines that the association has worldwide year by year with its objectives and plans. We collect all this information and adapt it as work plans," said Fabio Clavijo, fellow emeritus and distinguished member of ASHRAE, who was present.
Fabio also assured that this meeting allowed to advance in projects in terms of decarbonization and new commitments: "After two years without meeting in person we had an attendance of more than 90 members where we managed to meet again with friends and colleagues from all over the region. Proposals and initiatives were formulated that will have a high impact on the entire activity of ASHRAE, and I believe that this is a wonderful opportunity to meet again to think a little about the future, and what the world of buildings and decarbonization should be for the coming years. We have that commitment to continue advancing in these new bets."
